My Metamorphosis Towards The Adventures Crusiing

Over the next several days I will write about various types of Cruise Vacations. As suggested in my previous post, you should find one or more options suitable for your enjoyment.

My very first boat trip, organized by my father, was to visit the Statue of Liberty.
This famous monument, given to the United States in 1886, is located on Liberty Island in New York harbor. For the new immigrant, seeking refuge in our nation, the first sighting of "Lady Liberty" has to be both comforting and joyous.

My excitement and expectations over the opportunity of visiting this historic monument turned to dread as soon as I boarded the little ferry. As soon as we pulled away from the pier I became SEASICK and I just knew I would never reach the island alive.

During my childhood, I always suffered seasickness when traveling on small water crafts. Crackers with peanut butter, Dramamine, nothing, absolutely nothing worked. I eventually outgrew this condition, however, it can be a concern for some people. We are all different and react to situations differently.

For those of you who are plagued by this malaise, I would recommend that you consider at first "introductory" cruises. Try a "Cruise to Nowhere" or a 3-day cruise from Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Cunard, Princess among others. You might try a river barge cruise from cruise lines such as: Majestic American Line, which sails up the Mississippi River and its tributaries; Peter Dielmann Cruise; Viking River Cruises; the French Country Waterways.

An important fact to keep in mind is the location of your cabin on the ship. Cabins located on lower decks, towards the center of the ship tend to be less effected by motion especially on the open sea and if the water becomes choppy.

Along the way, I will be introducing you to several cruise lines and their varied offerings.

More importantly, I wish everyone celebrating their country's Independence Day this month my pure and ultimate joy.

Here in the United States I look forward to watching the Macy’s Firework display, which is now celebrating it’s 32nd year.
