To Cruise or Not to Cruise, Hmm That’s a Valid Question.

I would think that most of us have seen the two variations of the movie Titanic, or certainly have heard of the story and its history. That was certainly a tragic day within the Cruise Line history. Yet many lessons have been learned from it, and times and Cruise Ships have certainly changed. I believe there is a Cruise Line, River barge, Houseboat, or Private Yacht experience that can certainly fulfill all, or at least most of your desires.


When my partner and I finally planned our honeymoon, I discovered that he was a “Cruiser”. I was and remain a “Land person”, but planning and taking a cruise for us, I just took a deep breath an went for it. I choose a Holland American 10-day Caribbean Cruise departing from our home- port city.


When I made the initial deposit and arrived home, I turned on the television. I heard the sound track first, before the picture was in view, and I heard the music: “Holy, Holy Holy”. Was this a sign that I should take into consideration?

The end result of this particular sailing was that it could not have been anymore perfect. It happen to be a particular “Theme Cruise”, all of which I totally loved. The ship itself: the Passengers, the Staff, and the Activities just kept us totally busy and the time spent on the cruise unfortunately came to an end.


The “Cruise Bug”, took over, and I have now learned to love the incredible amount of choices, of activities, food, dining options, ports of call, and styles of cruising.


The Cruise Industry has been expanding their product lines over the last several decades. The variation of Cruise Lines actually does cater to most everyone’s tastes and desires.


Daily, more and more individuals are discovering the “All-Inclusive*” delights of the cruising experience. Since more Singles, Families, Couples, Corporations, Non-Profit Organizations and various Social Groups, are now sailing away and generally having the time of lives. *(Alcoholic beverages and soda are included on some ships.)


When you do the comparisons, it is easy to see: Your stateroom is your floating hotel room, all your meals are included, (some even have complimentary room service), on board activities and entertainment, and of course the ports of call.


If you are departing from a port near you, arranging flights become a non-issue. All you need to do is to pack your luggage, and not have to concern yourself about the weight, the size, and those excess weight and baggage fees.


During your maiden cruise, you may be surprised to see how many of your fellow passengers are returning passengers. The Cruise Industry in general, has one of the highest numbers of repeat clients. Many first-time cruisers make arrangements for their next cruise, even before their first cruise has returned home; and most seasoned cruisers do this as a matter of course. Many even have a favorite cabin.
